DAVID LILBURN
BIOGRAPHY
David is an Irish artist, printmaker and occasional publisher with a background in history. His work, including many public commissions, often uses the concept of mapping to explore ideas of memory and identity and to create a sense of place in maps rich in narrative detail.
He studied history at Trintiy College, University of Dublin, 1969-73, lithography at Scuole istituto statale d’arte, Urbino, 1973 and art & design at Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD), Limerick Institute of Technology, 1980-83.

Recent commissions include: You are here, a site integrated sculptural installation in collaboration with architect Jan Frohburg, In progress, Client: Galway County Council and Variations, Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, 2014,

Recent awards: King and Piercy Mid-Career Award, Impressions, 2012, Galway, curator/adjudicator Norman Ackroyd and Fellow of the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, 2011.
Together with artist and writer Jim Savage, he runs Occasional Press which publishes art-based books. He lives in Limerick.
